Talk Talk Broadband issue

We have a customer with a very peculiar broadband issue.

Every so often the broadband goes down.  - While trying to trace the issue with Talk Talk, they have changed all filters, and replaced the router.  Still the problem exists.

While we were on site last week we had a look at the router logs to see if we could see any more details.

Tesco offer iPad for £50

A technical glitch yesterday offered the new iPad for £50 on the Tesco website.   The retailer has confirmed that it will not be honouring the price.

A spokesman for Tesco said: “We like to offer our customers unbeatable value, but unfortunately this is an IT error that is currently being corrected.”

He added that no money would be withdrawn from customers who had placed orders.

UK to get 4G this year?

Ofcom have this morning confirmed it has received an application from Everything Everywhere  (Orange and T-Mobile) to use its existing mobile spectrum to offer 4G mobile service.

4G / LTE (long term evolution) can be used by mobile users to stream videos and receive faster internet on the move

How do 4G Speeds compare to 3G  ?

3G Max speed 9.3 Mbps

4G 100Mbps Moving,  1 Gbps per second Stationary.

Handsets with 4G Capabilities

If given the go ahead you will need to have a compatible 4G  Handset / Device,  Such as the new iPad.

All this still leaves the UK a long way in the dark,   Large portions of the country doesn’t have 3G coverage as yet, so 4G is still a pipe dream for most of us !

BBC Planning iTunes rival ?

The BBC is developing a new system in which viewers can download new and old TV shows. The downloaded files would not be time limited, like the current iPlayer system.  This according to sources of Paid Content.  They claim the BBC would charge around £1.89, with an average of £0.40 going to the producers instead of the £0.28p iTunes pays.

The project has been codenamed Barcelona, and still has a long way to go before it is approved by the BBC Trust and Lunched.

Apple confirm iPad sold out.

iPhone 4s Siri – Still no UK business listings – but can help get rid of a body

There was no further update yesterday on when the UK iPhone version of Siri will get ‘Location based search’ .  We just checked with Apple and it seems that there is no update imminent.

Location based search is currently only available in the US and we’ve made no further announcement to date.

How hard can it be.  Siri helps me to dump a body, but not find me pizza….
